Description: Mapa de intensidades sísmicas máximas en la escala de Mercalli Modificada para sismos históricos ocurridos entre los años 1900 y 1960. Destaca la zona costera y continental de la región norte del Perú con intensidades del orden IX y X-XI(MM) que afectaron a los departamentos de Piura, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Amazonas y San Martín. En esta región, el sismo del año 1912 produjo en el departamento de Piura el colapso de un gran número de viviendas, licuación de suelos, surgimiento de agua del subsuelo, cambios morfológicos en el cauce del río y un gran número de fallecidos.
